Intimate Partner Violence Recovery

You thought ending that relationship would help…

Yet shame, guilt, and regret consume you daily. They made you feel as though it was your fault, and you believed them… and kept doing everything possible to avoid a fight – trying to become that unrealistic ideal person.

Somewhere in this process you’ve lost yourself. Although that relationship was not healthy, it’s likely that you’re wondering whether ending it was the best decision.

And even if you convince yourself it was, there’s probably still that part of you that misses them deeply. After all, when it was good, it was the ultimate bliss.

An open wound is what you are left with – hoping to find a way to mend the pain and a person who understands.

I do understand… and I’m here to help.

As your therapist, I bring years of experience in helping individuals heal from unhealthy relationships. As a certified domestic violence counselor, I utilize the most effective, trauma-informed interventions to match your particular needs.

Our work together is collaborative – you are treated as a unique individual and take ownership of your treatment. My approach is strength-based and humanistic. I help you in identifying your personal strengths; thus, empowering you to be the best you.

My approach will never be punitive or shaming. It will be focused on supporting you throughout your healing journey.

Therapy will become a space where you get to express and process all your thoughts and feelings regarding that relationship and the impact it has had on your life. We will explore what led to and maintained that relationship, and together come up with plans and steps on how to reach those plans.

In addition, a focus on your thoughts that contribute to distressing feelings will be explored and shifted to be more positive thoughts.

Let’s take a look at our work together…

You will feel safe, will feel validated, and supported. This is essential to allow us to gently explore your past, which will help you gain clarity regarding your previous relationships.

I will guide you to find your inner strengths by highlighting them and by reframing negative thoughts into more positive, adaptive thoughts. In addition, by helping you feel seen and understood like never before, you will gain a positive sense of self.

We will bring outside scenarios into the session and practice ways to communicate your needs. Prepping you and helping you become an assertive communicator, an essential tool required for healthy fulfilling relationships.

Our sessions will include mindfulness exercises, helping you become aware of your breath, body, and different sensations experienced through your different senses. Awareness of these sensations is the first step. I’ll then provide specific tools like deep breathing to help alleviate distressing sensations – empowering mindfulness strategies to utilize on your own. You’ll learn to govern your emotional responses.

Our work together will be challenging at times, because it requires you to do deep work and face things that you’ve avoided for so long. But with perseverance and support, you can come out stronger than ever and have improved well-being.

It’s time to discover how resilient you are!

I know you’re used to putting others’ needs before your own. But it’s time for change and for you to be first.

Today is the day for you to start your journey toward feeling empowered and strong in your decisions.
