About Therapy

At last, you have found another being that gets you.

I see that part of you that has been shunned, pushed down, made to feel that it doesn’t belong, made to feel less than. That part of you that is ready to break free and blossom.

Throughout my life, I have been able to connect with others that have experienced pain and have always found myself specifically adept at helping them heal.

For as long as I can remember, psychology has always been my calling and my path.

This is a space for you to feel absolutely safe…

The office is thoughtfully put together from hearing rain sounds in the hallways to light colors throughout the space, allowing your different senses to feel at ease.

It’s a space for you to share out loud those secrets held in your family for so long. You would have been punished for sharing or even saying out loud those horrible memories of the abuse, the fighting between your parents, the constant fear you felt throughout your childhood. The times you were made to feel like you didn’t matter.

You thought these memories were in the past, long gone; you kept trying to erase them.

The act of sharing these things…

…with a witness to your pain who experiences the pain with you, having someone feel difficult feelings with you, helps alleviate them. Now it’s two people feeling them instead of one.

Imagine a bottle filled with liquid that is about to explode because it has nowhere else to go. Instead of it exploding, you share the liquid with someone else who can carry it. That bottle is now lighter and easier to carry.

You are the expert of your own life.

I am a genuine, natural, authentic human. I do not hide behind a clipboard or behind a computer – I am there with you, building a connection.

My emotional strength, genuineness, authenticity, and love for human transformation help clients feel heard and validated like they’ve never experienced.

My approach is eclectic…

I use a combination of different modalities, as my approach will be tailored to your specific needs.

I am a humanistic therapist, that is, we are both equal human beings, I am not the expert over your life.

I help you in finding your strengths and power over your life.

In addition, my approach is also psychodynamic – we will dive into your past to see how it is impacting your present day. Exploring your past helps you in reshaping your life in a way that provides you a better sense of self.

I also use Cognitive Behavior Therapy – we set goals for therapy and assess our progress toward those goals. You will gain useful tools, such as grounding exercises, journaling, and practical exercises to change negative thoughts to more positive thoughts.

What the therapeutic process does for you…

Our time together will include some humor, tears, courage to grow past your comfort zone, and the child in you will be honored and brought into the process.

As adults we learn that we must ‘adult,’ we must be serious… we have all these “shoulds” and thoughts of what we have to be. We ‘shouldn’t’ act on our impulses or share our true thoughts.

In therapy with me, those “shoulds” go out the door. It’s the one place where there is no fear for what that other person will think of you – that fear of being put down or thought of being less than – it’s not there.

Also, as we revisit your childhood, we will discover certain needs as a child that were not met. By uncovering those needs and giving them a voice, it helps you process them and grieve; therefore, helping you in reaching your full potential.

You’ll have an improved relationship with yourself. Through clarity and understanding of your own behavioral patterns, you develop internal cohesiveness, helping you feel complete, improving mood and self-esteem, prepping you to have improved relationship with others.

Once you achieve more cohesiveness within yourself, you have a greater ability to connect with others.

Finally, you are free to be authentically you.

By having a safe space, by being seen as an equal human being with great capacity for transformation, you are able to uncover yourself and heal from the adversity you’ve experienced. This leads you to feel complete, whole, and in-tune with all of you.

About Me

My own childhood trauma led me to become a powerful therapist.

Through my own personal experiences with pain, I can sit with yours.

I have true empathy, because I also have shared that experience. My own experience with trauma has helped me gain emotional strength, resilience, ability to cope with and deal with the most difficult challenges in our human experience.

I am very hopeful for all my clients, because I have learned first-hand about the human capacity for transformation and healing.

Education and training…

My passion for learning and understanding human behavior and cultures led me to earn my master’s degree in Counseling with a Marriage and Family Therapy option from California State University, Long Beach.

I am a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT) and have specializations in Parent-Child Interaction Therapy and Functional Family Therapy.

These specializations have better equipped me with further understanding of the dynamics between family members, the impact these have on an individual, how to build strong attachments between child and parent, and how to repair and heal from shattered relationships.

When I’m not doing therapy…

I am a first-generation Los Angelino, born and raised in Los Angeles. My parents are from South America. As a child of immigrants, I grappled with feelings of inferiority and learning to accept and honor my cultural differences. This adds to my passion for social justice.

In addition, my own childhood traumas led me to believe in and be part of human transformation.

I love soccer, dance, and yoga. Movement and music are ingrained in me. I am the type of person that hears music and will move to the beat – no matter where I am – no matter who is watching.

The time for change is now.

The way it’s been going is no longer serving you.

You are ready to start making lasting positive changes.
